Spoke length

Enter your measured hub and rim numbers. Measure them — published figures are often for a different generation of the same hub, and a 2 mm error is a ruined spoke order.

How to measure this

5 steps
45.0 mmFlange hole circle diameter

1Measure the flange

Callipers across two opposite spoke holes in the hub flange, centre to centre. Measure both flanges — on most rear hubs they are not the same.

Hub

Across the centres of two opposite spoke holes in the flange.

From the wheel centreline to the inner face of the flange.

The hole in the flange, usually 2.5-2.6 mm. The elbow sits at the hole edge.

Rim

The diameter the spoke nipples seat on. Measure it; catalogue ERDs are often wrong.

Work out ERD from measuring rods

For asymmetric rims. Positive shifts the holes toward the drive side. Leave at 0 for a symmetric rim.
